
Getting to Almuñécar
Almuñécar is located in the heart of the Costa Tropical in the province of Granada in Andalucia on Spain's southern coast approximately an hour east of Málaga and a similar distance south of Granada.
Almuñécar and the Costa Tropical is easily accessed from three airports:
Málaga Airport (Costa del Sol - AGP) - 90km - approximately 60 minutes drive away
Granada Airport (Federico García Lorca Granada-Jaen - GRX) - 95km - approximately 70 minutes drive away
Almería Aiport (Aeropuerto de Almería - LEI) - 150km - approximately 1hr 45mins drive away
Alll three airports handle both international and domestic flights with Málaga hosting by far the most, being Spain's four busiest airport.
Almuñécar can be easily reached by bus from the three main aiports. From Malaga Airport, you will need to take the shuttle bus to Malaga Bus Station (or the train) and transfer to the bus to Almuñécar. There is also a direct bus from the airport twice a day. Almuñécar sits on the N340 National Highway, just south of the Autovía A-7, also known as the Autovía del Mediterráneo. This is the motorway which runs all the way from La Jonquera, near the French frontier and ends in Algeciras, Just past Gibralter and as the name suggests, runs parallel to the Mediterranean Sea throughtout its length.
From Madrid, take the A4 and A44 and the N340 which will take you directly to Almuñécar
